Field Trip to Woodard Bay

Birding at Woodard Bay Conservation Area

Date: Saturday, 15 November 2025

Start/End:  9 – 11 AM

Trip leader: Miles McEvoy and Abby Salmon

Meeting Place: Meet at Woodard Bay parking area. Discovery Pass required. Look for people with binoculars.

Description:  This field trip is for beginning and intermediate birders.  Dress appropriately for the day’s weather.  Be prepared to walk an approximately ½ mile paved road with one gentle hill.  There will be a variety of wintering ducks and other birds to enjoy.

Directions: Woodard Bay Conservation Area is on Woodard Bay Road NE between Libby and Shincke Road. The parking area is next to the Woodard Bay estuary on west side of bridge over Woodard Creek.

Bring: Binoculars, a scope if you have one, and a field guide if you want. Merlin Bird ID is a great phone app for identifying birds. A hands-free pack for water, snacks, and personal items. Binoculars are available if you’d like to borrow for the trip.
