Description: Birding at Theler Wetlands in north Mason County for a walk on
boardwalks and fairly level trails through several acres of protected estuary marsh and
forested wetland, looking for early migrants and resident birds. This guided walk is
appropriate for beginning and intermediate birders. This preserve hosts many species of
birds including birds of prey, songbirds, and waterfowl.

What to bring: Binoculars, water, lunch/snacks, warm jacket, camera (optional),
spotting scope (optional).

Meeting location: Meet a few minutes before 9:00 a.m. south of the Mary Theler Early
Learning Center, 22871 WA-3 (Highway 3), Belfair, WA 98528. No restroom facilities at
trailhead. The Salmon Center, north of the site on Rossel Road, has portable restrooms.
Several coffee shops, restaurants, and grocery stores are close to the site on Highway
3.
