This course may be of interest to beginning and serious birders; participants will learn advanced techniques in ornithology, get experience identifying birds, and participate in mist-netting and banding, point count surveys, telemetry, recording and bioacoustical analyses. It is a great opportunity for advanced birders to add a lot of depth to their avian knowledge. The field station is also a very nice place to spend time, and a great way to experience western Montana.
This is a special topics one-week course taught by Megan Fylling, Director of Banding and Education Programs, with help from the staff at the UM Bird Ecology Lab (UMBEL). This immersion-style course is offered at the Flathead Lake Biological Station with field trips to area locations for hands-on training.
