Free Trees and Shrubs for Homeowners’ Riparian Areas
Chehalis Basin Community Riparian Planting Program 2025
The conservation districts (Thurston, Grays Harbor, Lewis, and Mason) of the Chehalis River Basin are providing FREE bare root plants to landowners interested in planting native trees and shrubs along rivers and creeks on their properties. These trees and shrubs will help shade the stream, reduce soil erosion, and contribute woody material, which creates diverse aquatic habitat.
Landowners are only eligible for plantings along waterbodies that are part of the Chehalis River Watershed. This includes the Chehalis River and its many tributaries! Thank you for helping us steward the waterways of our communities!
If you have any questions, or want to determine if your planting project is in the Chehalis Basin, please reach out to:
Thurston County: ksinner@thurstoncd.com
Lewis County: maddie.wilcox@lewiscdwa.com
Grays Harbor County: awaldrop@graysharborcd.org
Plants provided by the Chehalis Basin Strategy Aquatic Species Restoration Plan
Plants available until April 15, 2025, as long as supplies last.
