South Sound Bird Alliance (SSBA) and The Carbon Capture Foundation (Foundation) have partnered to provide free trees to the public. This is to support the Foundation’s program of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by planting trees. Trees are currently the best carbon sink.
SSBA will have the following trees available in January or February 2026:
360 Douglas Fir
120 Sitka Spruce
100 Ponderosa Pine
360 Shore Pine
Trees will only be available to members and residents of Thurston, Mason and Lewis counties. Trees will be limited to ten trees per family and will not be available for commercial purposes.
Information on how to order the trees and other details will be available on the SSBA website and in the Echo as we get closer to the date of tree availability. The trees will come with tree protectors at no cost and will be available for pick up in Olympia.
