South Sound Bird Alliance welcomes Allan Holland as our new Director-at-Large Board member. Allan comes to us from Scotland where he was born in Glasgow. He emigrated from Scotland to the U.S. in 2025 and married Rachel Hudson who is also a Board member. Allan has a degree in computer science but found a passion in food service as a chef. He and Rachel met in 2019 in an on-line community and found their shared interests. Two of those shared interests are birds and photography. Allan grew up in a home that had pet parrots, owls, and budgies; Rachel has been birding and photographing birds since childhood. Allan has taken up photographing birds now too and hopes to travel in pursuit of new species.
Allan currently publishes the Echo newsletter for SSBA and is beginning the process of taking over the Communication Chair position. Communications encompasses the Echo, SSBA website, our social media platforms, and our public phone/email accounts. South Sound Bird Alliance is very fortunate to have Allan among our chapter leaders. And Allan says he is fortunate to have landed in Washington with its beauty and wonderful birds.
