THE CROW CLAN & ITS REMARKABLE COMPLEXITIES
TONY ANGELL, ARTIST & AWARD-WINNING AUTHOR
THURSDAY OCTOBER 9, 2025
Via Zoom at 7 pm, register below
Join us for an illuminating talk with Tony Angell, Seattle-based artist and author.
As a child, Angell kept and worked with animals, including hawks and falcons. As an adult, he continues to rehabilitate wild species, particularly birds of prey, crows, and ravens. This intimate contact with birds provides the foundation for understanding his drawings, paintings, carvings, and sculptures. Angell has authored and/or illustrated many books on natural history. His drawings in the coauthored book, In the Company of Crows and Ravens, received the prestigious Victoria/Albert prize.
In this talk, Angell will explore some of the behaviors of corvids in general and crows in particular. He will discuss their habits both humorous and purposeful, their communication strategies, and their historical and ecological connections to us. You will discover many of these lessons through illustrations from Angell’s books and likely through a study skin or two showing the subjects in full feather.
Please come and discover the amazing complexities of this family of birds. The program will be shown on a large screen at the Temple or you can watch from home via Zoom. Registration below.
