SOUTH SOUND BIRD ALLIANCE BOARD RETREAT
At the end of August, the SSBA Board of Directors met for its annual full day retreat. Meeting at the lovely home of Board member Sheila Rodriguez, the group reviewed their progress on Strategic Plan goals (which can be seen on our website under “About”>“Operating Documents”) and made plans for the coming year.
Also attending the meeting were Deb Nickerson (Volunteer Chair), Stevie Morris (Outreach Chair), and Connor Tracey (Avian Science Chair). Quentin Phillips is the newest member of the Board and was heartily welcomed.
In the coming months, the Board decided to focus on running a membership drive, especially in Lewis and Mason counties. SSBA covers Lewis, Mason, and Thurston counties but most of our members live in Thurston County. Another possible project will be a Cats Indoors campaign to encourage cat owners in practices that prevent pet cats from killing birds and other wildlife.
Anyone who is interested in helping with these projects would be most welcome. Please contact Deb Nickerson to get more information. debranick@gmail.com
