Each spring, hundreds of thousands of shorebirds migrate along the Washington Coast, feeding and resting along the way. This year, the 30th Annual Grays Harbor Shorebird and Nature Festival celebrates this incredible migration May 1 – 3. Volunteers make this festival happen by roving at Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge to help visitors look for shorebirds and by running shorebird-related activity stations at the fun fair in Hoquiam Middle School. This year, our chapter has been asked if we can provide some badly needed help at the festival. Perhaps many of us could go down and stay for a day or two enjoying the birds, visitors and each other. If you’d like to help out, please email nisqually@fws.gov for more information! Then email Deb N. at debranick@gmail.com who will make a list of all SSBA volunteers at the festival. We’ll try to arrange a chapter get-together while on the coast.
