Join us for something different: A virtual screening of the documentary HAWK WATCH. Filmmakers and/or cast members will introduce the film and provide a post-screening Q&A session.

The HAWK WATCH documentary follows a group of devoted birders in Southern California during the spring migration as they collect information to protect the Swainson’s Hawks. These citizen scientists try to encourage volunteers to help track scientific data. Everyone involved tries to stay organized, but they soon find that their ambitions might not measure up to their own expectations. As thousands of raptors begin to pass overhead, the spectacle of nature itself becomes their well-earned reward.

Still the “Hawksters” struggle. From counting birds accurately across challenging terrain to staying active enough to keep pace with Mother Nature, none of their tasks are easy. However, as the crew meet fellow scientists in Mexico and California, an unexpected ambition begins to inspire them.

Do they ultimately have what it takes to build a new dream? Watch and find out!

Alicia Wszelaki and Matthew Nothelfer financed, produced, directed, and edited HAWK WATCH. They have been working in the media industry since the 1980s and have shot productions on almost every continent. Their home town is Borrego Springs, California.
